There is really no ending demand for Bob Dylan's unreleased materials collection. Since 1991, Columbia has been released 7 'official' bootleg albums for the curious and die-hard fans. The songs quality made these albums as popular as the regular albums. Frankly speaking, Bob Dylan is one of the very few artists who can pass bootleg records as another regular albums.

The eight volume of the unreleased songs was released in late 2008. It contains the unreleased, live performance,and alternate-take records between the album 'Oh Mercy' and 'Modern Time'. Several alternate version here are really interesting, such as the country-like style of "Most of the Time" and the short piano version of "Dignity". Other highlights include the soundtracks from 'Norty Country' and 'Lucky You'.

This volume is a bit special from all previous volumes because it was released in 3 different edition - each with slightly shade-different cover. There is a single-disc edition, the double-CD edition, and deluxe boxset edition that comes with 150-page book and a bonus CD. (the cover shown on this page is from double-CD edition) Disc2 and 3 contains more unreleased and alternate version of songs already appeared in the first disc, plus another soundtrack from 'Gods and Generals'.

This is another welcome additional albums in the long line of Dylan's collected works. Single-CD and double-CD edition are ideal for cascual fans. (double-CD edition is highly recommended since it costs just a few dollars more) While the deluxe edition is only for the serious (and quite wealthy) fans because you must be able to afford over $100 for this 3-CD boxset. If you like Dylan's work, you will satisfy with this volume - no matter what edition you bought.
