In September 2009, the legendary folk trio have stopped their 40-year-long career with the death of Mary Travers. (read HERE) This live album, which was released in early March 2010, was intended to be a tribute to their beloved lost member.
Unlike normal live album, the tracks here did not come from the same event. These recordings were chosen from over 30 of their performances with Czech National Symphony Orchestra. Most listeners will not find any new sounds here, since they performed more than 100 shows with various orchestras during 1980s and 1990s. Many of the cuts here are covers of their well-known hits - with some added effects from the background orchestras. "Leaving On A Jet Plane" and "Blowin' In the Wind" sound very spiritful, while "Puff" got more cinematic feeling. Other highlights includes the cover of Thea Hopkins' "Jesus On A Wire" and folk favorite "Where Have All The Flowers Gone". The album closes with the orchestra piece "Adagio for Strings" that Travers requested to play on her memorial celebration.
This album is a nicely-done album by the trio. It serves well as a final page of the act that have a heavy influence on folk music for over forty years.
